Breast Cancer Pins in Remembrance of Mom

In remembrance of my departed Mother, here is a pin I made and have been wearing in memory of her passing away last month as a result of cancer. May God bless her soul. She had battled cancer for over 20 years but with age, she just had to resign to the disease.
This month of October, the breast cancer awareness month, I would like to dedicate this pin to all those who have survived, battling and past away because of this disease. May it empower and remind us that we have a duty to ourselves to prevent this cancer. And also remembering that we have cancer but cancer does not have us, too.
May God Bless Us All and keep us safe.
I found some jewelry boxes from a department store that my sister stored away and found use for them. I took a 3x3 "Pretty in Pink" SU! cardstock and embossed it to cover the top of the box. I also cut a 3 x 3 "Very Vanila" SU! cardstock and stamped it with a caption "Hope is... believing in a brighter tomorrow" from an retired SU! Stamp Set, then adhered the caption behind the cover of the box.
With the ribbon, I cut a 6", 7/8" black grosgrain ribbon and slant-cut both ends. With a 3/4" pink grosgrain ribbon, I cut a 3" piece to stick it to the right side of the crossed-ribbon. Just to put a little touch to it, I added a pink rhinestone "stick-on" to it, as illustrated.
Use glue gun to piece the ribbons together. I also used a 1" bar pin and glued it behind the ribbon vertically. NOTE: position the pin fastener on top for easier pinning.
The design of this ribbon was researched by my brother. A pink ribbon connotes a survivor or a cancer patient and a black ribbon with a pink half ribbon signifies that a love one passed away.
I dedicate this post to my mom. May you rest in peace, mommy. I love you and I miss you.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Please visit my blog and my Stampin Up Website! Have a nice day!

I am so sorry for you and your family. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 and had radiation and a lumpectomy. Every single year, I relive the moment I had to tell my children. There's a saying, "Cancer may leave your body, but it never leaves your mind." I wear a breast cancer pin every day in the month of October. Tomorrow and Wednesday, I will wear one for your mom.

With my sincerest expression of gratitude, I thank you all who have given me comfort in words. No words can ever begin to describe how touched I am with all our support and love. Having all my viewers and followers like you is such a blessing one can be so lucky to have. Again, thank you for your expression of your sympathy. With Love to you and your family, Kay!!!

Hello!

Beautiful project in memory of your mother. I lost my mom also this past month - she had battled and won fights with both breast and colon cancers but injuries from a fall were too much for her to overcome. Wishing you good memories to bring you comfort.

Hugs,

Barbara Diane
